Week 22!

This pregnancy is really starting to fly by!! Last night we purchased part of Ashton's nursery furniture (we got his crib and dresser) and crib bedding. We still have to get a glider w/ ottoman and a changing table...Oh, and we have to paint his room. I will post pics once the room is starting to come together. I absolutely can not wait!!

Anyways, today I am 22 weeks! WOW! Baby is due in a short 126 days (but will probably be here a week or so earlier). I can not believe it. It is FINALLY all starting to feel real. He kicks ALL the time!! He is beginning to kick lower and he loves to kick and jump on my bladder especially at night time. I should not complain and I'm not, but goodness it hurts sometime. I want to enjoy this (and I am) since this is probably our last pregnancy.

Here is what Ashton is doing this week.
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

My bump at week 22:

CRAZY TX Weather!

I've always said it! One day it'll be 70 and the next day highs in the 30s with snow! Well, it happened again!! It was 70 degrees on Friday. Tyler and I were at the park. Saturday rolls on in and we're in the 30s. Late Saturday night it begins to snow. Mr. Texas Weather Man called for 2-3" of the white stuff...I was like, yeah right! I'll HAVE to see that to believe it! Well, I woke up this morning to almost 6" of the white stuff! It's so beautiful, but I am soo ready for spring temps and Mr. Sunshine. Luckily, he'll be back very soon!

Our backyard blanketed with LOTS of snow!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Tyler and I went to a St. Patrick's Day Party with our Mom's Group at the park. The weather was absolutely beautiful out today. Tyler had lots of fun playing with his little friends. He got to eat goodies (which if you know my son, he LOVES), got to color St. Patrick's Day Coloring pages, play with play-dough, color with chalk on the cement, and played on the playground. It was nice to get out and enjoy the day with Tyler and we had a wonderful time!

*~*Week 20...1/2 way there*~*

Dear Baby Boy,

I can not believe we are at the 20 week mark...we are 1/2 way there!! I am SOO incredibly thankful that you have stuck with me and that you are so healthy. I thank God everyday for this and pray that you stay safely tucked in your Mommy's tummy for the next twenty or so weeks! I can not wait to meet you this summer -- we are all so excited!! Your big brother, Tyler talks about his baby brother all the time. I know you two will have a special brotherly bond and I can not wait until you two get to meet!

You are such a busy little guy! I don't get to feel you move a ton during the day (probably because as your Daddy says I stay too busy), but as soon as I sit down and especially at night you LOVE to kick, turn baby somersaults, and punch your Mommy. I love it! I love to sit down in the evening and just feel all your little baby movements. It amazes me every time.

I am so looking forward to the next twenty weeks and so much more!!

Mommy loves you so much.

Wonderful lil Weekend!

This weekend was all about getting our backyard ready for the Spring. It was REALLY nasty. The weather has been so cold here, so getting out and cleaning up after a dog after the entire winter .... well, thank goodness I didn't have that job.
Chad made this really cool planter. I was amazed that he did such a great job on it (not that I didn't think he could do it or anything, but seriously you HAVE to see this).
Rayme and Alex also came over to help on Sunday. A HUGE thank you to both of you for all of your hard work! Alex pretty much raked our entire yard and helped pick out and plant all the plants in the garden. Chad and I both appreciate everything you two helped with!!

Tyler loved to help clean up some of the leaves and of course his favorite .... play!
It was a wonderful weekend! We are looking forward to some warmer weather around here so we can get outside and enjoy it!

Week 18 ~~ Our baby is the size of a pickle!

By week 18 of your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is 5 to 5.5 inches long. Your baby continues to develop fat layers and weighs about 5.25 ounces. Your baby will continue to grow and develop, but the rapid growth will slow down for a little while. You will be able to feel your uterus just below your bellybutton. If you put your fingers sideways to measure, you can feel your uterus about two finger-widths below your bellybutton. At this point of your pregnancy, your uterus is approximately the size of a cantaloupe. Although weight gain varies from woman to woman, your total weight gain at this point should be 10 to 13 pounds.

At this time if you had an ultrasound, heart abnormalities can be detected. If the ultrasound technician detects abnormalities, further ultrasound exams may be ordered to follow the baby's development. There is still space available in your uterus and your baby will be active for periods at a time. Your baby may sit cross legged or turn somersaults.

Around this time, your baby becomes more sensitive to the outside world and shows her presence through powerful kicks and prods. The bones through which sound is passed to the inner ear have hardened and the parts of the brain that receives and processes nerve signals from the ears are developing. This means that your baby can hear now. Your baby will get used to familiar sounds, such as your heart beating, familiar voices, blood rushing through the umbilical cord and other daily routine sounds. Your baby will become startled if he hears a loud sound.

If you have a stethoscope at home, you can now hear the baby's heartbeat yourself.

Our baby can now suck his/her thumb!! **Note: This is NOT our baby, just a pic of what he/she may be doing**
