My poor Ashton

Ashton has been really sick :( He has been wheezing, having trouble breathing, coughing, & running a high fever. I took him to the pedi the Thurs before Christmas and she just said he had a little cold. Well, by Saturday he was pretty bad...everything was much worse. On Sunday I decided I better take him to Acute Kids (an urgent care clinic for kids) this was the 1st time I had to do this and they were wonderful!! They gave him 3 breathing treatments and a steroid. He seemed to feel much better. They sent him home with a nebulizer for breathing treatments every 3-4 hrs and steroids to be given 2 times a day. By Sun night he was not doing so good again. I decided I did not want to take a chance for something bad to happen and took him to the ER. When we got there he was really sounding bad..wheezing, barking cough and his chest was retracting. We get in there and they say his nose needs to be suctioned. I am thinking grrreat! I brought him to the ER to be suctioned, I could have done this at home. Well, after they suctioned with the bulb syringe they were like there is too much mucus in here. We need to use the vacuum. They use the vacuum and get out so much mucus. I was then very thankful I took him. There is no way I could have gotten all that out on my own. I have now become an expert with the bulb syringe. One good thing out of this! On Monday, we go to his Dr and follow up. Again, he is having rapid breathing, his oxygen levels are a little low, and he is wheezing. They do a breathing treatment in the office and after he seems a little better. We are scheduled to come back on Tuesday. Tuesday comes and he seems a little better. Still wheezing, but definitely better. We went to the pedi and his oxygen is really good today! Also, they said he seems to not be wheezing as much!! Thank goodness!! This has literally been hell! I hate when my babies are sick. Anyways, I am supposed to continue his breathing treatments for atleast the next two weeks with steroids twice a day, but cut back on the breathing treatments day by day as long as he seems to be doing better. It's Wed now and he is doing really good! He slept great last night. He did wake up at 3:30AM and was wheezing. We did a breathing treatment, which did not really seem to help too much. By 7:30AM he was wheezing pretty badly again. I do another breathing treatment, but this time with the steroids. After that he did great for most of the day. He still needed his treatments about every 4-5 hrs. He will continue on them on an as needed basis, but will continue the steroids two times a day. I am so thankful he seems to be feeling better and he is such a trooper. You can tell he does not like the treatments, but as soon as he takes in some breaths you can so tell he is feeling a little better. He goes with it. He will look up at me a few times and then he'll close his eyes and just breath it all in.
So, things are starting to look good here!!!

***UPDATE -- Wed., Jan. 5***
Ashton is doing so much better!! He is barely wheezing at all. Still has a little cough on occasion. We are still doing the breathing treatments two times a day, but only the steroid (per the Drs request)

I'm FIVE months!

Can you believe it?? I sure can't!! Time sure does fly by when you're having fun!!

What's happening at FIVE months??

Your baby now realizes where sounds come from, and he'll turn quickly toward a new one. One of the easiest ways to engage him is to jingle a set of keys. Wind chimes are great attention-getters, too.

Your baby may now be able to recognize his own name and understand that you're speaking to him when you say it. You may notice that your little one turns his head when you call him or talk about him with others.

If you want to engage and entertain your baby, all you need to do is talk to him. At this age, babies don't learn language from the television or radio, so turn them off and use real dialogue instead.
Your baby can't express his emotions in the same complex way that you can. Although he can let you know in clear ways when he's angry, bored, or happy, his ability to show love and humor are just developing.

Your baby also shows a strong attachment to you by raising his arms when he wants to be picked up and by crying when you leave the room. He may also give you hugs and kisses.

And he's beginning to get the joke — he'll laugh at funny expressions and try to make you laugh, too. Keep the laughter flowing with your silly faces!

Weekend Fun!

What a roller coaster our Christmas break has already turned into. Chad and I have been sick and we've now passed it on to the boys :( There is nothing worse than my babies being sick.
On Saturday every one seemed like they were feeling good, so we headed to The Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine with the hopes to see Santa. The place was very packed, so we just walked around and looked at all the other neat things in the store.

Rayme and Tyler....Isn't this a WAY cool Christmas tree??

Tyler was excited to sit on a bear..It was so crowded I could not get a picture of his head w/ my lens.

My sweet Ashton chillin' in his BeBe Pod

Playing with toys, kinda ;)

Get me outta here NOW, Mom!

We have a new tradition this year! This is Cargo our Elf on the Shelf! Every night after we all go to bed he reports to Santa on our day. Then he comes back and chooses a different place to watch us the next day.

Am I cute or what??

On Sunday, my Mom and Summer came over to hang out with us. Summer and Tyler baked cookies with Chad. They had so much fun decorating and then of course eating them!!

Fabulous Friday (minus a sick baby)

Minus poor Ashton not feeling too good thanks to his Mommy & Daddy passing him a yucky tummy bug, I managed to snap a really cute picture of the boys by our Christmas tree. Thank goodness so far Ashton is the only one with this! Please God, do not let Tyler get this. I can handle it with a baby who is still in a diaper, but not my big boy who is now FULLY 100% potty trained (knock on wood.) Oh, and please let Ashton be over this ASAP! I hate when my babies are sick! One good thing, Ashton is a real trooper, you'd never know he was sick unless you got the privledge to change one of his diapers.

I just love how much these two love each other! It's so sweet!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Volvo

Yep, I've become one of those Moms, you know the ones that do crazy things like decorate their cars for Christmas. I always used to laugh at them. This year I thought Tyler would get a kick out of me decorating my car. I did not tell him what I did. He went outside and you should have seen the look on his face!! It was priceless!! He asked me if Santa and his reindeer came over and decorated my car for Christmas. How could I not resist to go along with that. I think it is really cute and in a strange way, fun to ride around in a car decorated like Rudolph!!
What do you think?!
