We are so blessed God gave our family another perfect and healthy baby boy. Ashton Jude arrived on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 at 12:59PM. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. He is perfect!!
My Birth StoryThey started my c-section a little late since the doctors were running behind (what else is new?). Finally, we got the okay. They wheeled me down to the surgery unit and had Chad change into his scrubs. While Chad was changing into his scrubs they got me prepped for the c-section. Last time Chad was able to be there with me and hold my hand. This time the nurse did it. Thank goodness she was nice and let me take my time to get comfortable. It took me a few minutes to calm down (I was extremely nervous) I do not do good with large needles being poked in my back. She finally got everything done the way it was supposed to be and they helped me lay on the table. Chad came in and they started to check me to be sure I felt nothing from my arms to my feet. All was good. Then, the started doing something which I am guessing was cutting my skin (the smell was horrible). After that I felt some pushing and other weird feelings. I guess my blood pressure dropped and I got very light headed. The nurse gave me some meds to make it better and it did. I then remember one of the doctors saying, "Look at the head, he has a huge noggin" Then they said something along the lines of, "There is a toddler in there" I figured Ashton may be a little big, but I had no idea he'd be almost 9 lbs. They started tugging, pulling, and doing everything to get him out. I felt lots of pressure (it was not a good feeling) Finally, about 10 minutes later or so he was out and they rushed him to get him to start breathing on his own. It freaked me out. All the doctors are at the table with him rubbing his tummy and body when finally I heard a cry. Talk about a HUGE relief!!! I then got to see my beautiful baby boy. He was perfect. I fell in love right away. He had some bumps and bruises on his little face, but they were gone within 2 days after delivery. They ended up taking Ashton to the NICU that evening just to monitor his breathing. They said during the trying to get him out he possibly swallowed some fluid and was a little stressed. So, to be on the safe side he went. Thank goodness he was back in our arms within two hours. I was so happy to see him.
I am so thankful he is here. I am also so thankful for my wonderful family!
