We are home and life is perfect!!!

I decided to come home a day early (on Friday AM). I was going stir crazy in the hospital. It was nice to send Ashton to the nursery at night to get some sleep, but when he was there I was missing him and could not sleep. I was so ready to be home in my own bed in my own house. It is wonderful to be home!
Everything is going so great! Tyler is loving having a baby brother!! He is so sweet and gentle. He gives him gentle hugs and kisses and loves to sit next to him and even loves to help Mommy and Daddy. Ashton basically sleeps, eats, pees, and poops. He never cries unless you are changing his diaper (not his favorite thing right now.

Here are some of my favorite pictures......

Ashton Jude is here!!!

We are so blessed God gave our family another perfect and healthy baby boy. Ashton Jude arrived on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 at 12:59PM. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. He is perfect!!

My Birth Story
They started my c-section a little late since the doctors were running behind (what else is new?). Finally, we got the okay. They wheeled me down to the surgery unit and had Chad change into his scrubs. While Chad was changing into his scrubs they got me prepped for the c-section. Last time Chad was able to be there with me and hold my hand. This time the nurse did it. Thank goodness she was nice and let me take my time to get comfortable. It took me a few minutes to calm down (I was extremely nervous) I do not do good with large needles being poked in my back. She finally got everything done the way it was supposed to be and they helped me lay on the table. Chad came in and they started to check me to be sure I felt nothing from my arms to my feet. All was good. Then, the started doing something which I am guessing was cutting my skin (the smell was horrible). After that I felt some pushing and other weird feelings. I guess my blood pressure dropped and I got very light headed. The nurse gave me some meds to make it better and it did. I then remember one of the doctors saying, "Look at the head, he has a huge noggin" Then they said something along the lines of, "There is a toddler in there" I figured Ashton may be a little big, but I had no idea he'd be almost 9 lbs. They started tugging, pulling, and doing everything to get him out. I felt lots of pressure (it was not a good feeling) Finally, about 10 minutes later or so he was out and they rushed him to get him to start breathing on his own. It freaked me out. All the doctors are at the table with him rubbing his tummy and body when finally I heard a cry. Talk about a HUGE relief!!! I then got to see my beautiful baby boy. He was perfect. I fell in love right away. He had some bumps and bruises on his little face, but they were gone within 2 days after delivery. They ended up taking Ashton to the NICU that evening just to monitor his breathing. They said during the trying to get him out he possibly swallowed some fluid and was a little stressed. So, to be on the safe side he went. Thank goodness he was back in our arms within two hours. I was so happy to see him.
I am so thankful he is here. I am also so thankful for my wonderful family!
Please see the pictures below.

Hooray! Ashton is here!

Chad and I are soo ready to go and have our baby!!

Welcome to the world, Ashton!!

Bowling FUN!!

Tyler and I went to the bowling alley today! This was Tyler's 1st time to bowl and he did awesome....he had an absolute blast too!!
I had no idea, but certain bowling alleys offer FREE bowling for kids during the week and all you have to pay for is the shoe rental (which was a whooping $3) Pretty good deal if you ask me!!

We had to stop first at the arcade area and check out all the rides and games.

Getting his bowling ball and ready to bowl!

YEAH for Tyler!! Can't wait to do this again!!

Tummy Tuesday - Week 38

Wow!! In exactly one week from today we get to meet Ashton!! Everyone is super excited!! My OB is out of town this week, so I am praying Ashton does not decide to show up early (not that I'd mind meeting him earlier than expected, I just really want MY OB to do my delivery.)
Everything is purchased, washed, placed where it should be, and ready!!! YIPPPEE!!!

Ashton is EXTREMELY active this week!! He is not so much kicking anymore, but now just moves constantly. He loves to place what I think is his foot near my rib cage and far right side. It's so funny! I'll be sitting and all the sudden there is this foot moving around on my right side. It's VERY weird looking!!

Ashton weighs almost 7 pounds and is approximately 19 inches. I can not wait to meet him next week. I will post pics as soon as I'm home from the hospital and have a few minutes.

Tyler's Big Brother Class!!

Tyler is so excited about becoming a big brother, I decided to enroll him in a big brother class at the hospital where I am going to deliver. I was hoping he'd love the class and he did!! He got there and got to make a picture frame to put on Ashton's bassinet. He did an awesome job!! We watched a movie and listened to a story all about what it's like to become a big brother. After that Tyler got to practice swaddling the baby. He did an awesome job!! He held the baby and when it was time to take the tour of the maternity ward he leaned over and gave the baby a kiss bye bye. Sooo cute!!! He loved seeing where Ashton was going to be born and where he'd get to visit after.
Here are some pictures I took. Enjoy!!!

Holy Crap! 37 Weeks!

Wow!! I'm due in just 3 short weeks and Ashton will be here in less than 2 weeks. I seriously can not believe it. Feels almost just like yesterday I was peeing on that stick and got a positive!! I'm so ready for him to be here! I can not wait to meet him and I'm so excited about getting my body back. I'm sure I'll miss being preggo, but there is nothing fun about being THIS preggo in the dead heat of summer. It's miserable!! Alright, enough complaining!! Here is what Ashton is doing and how he is growing this week.

Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.)

Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Morning at The Arbor Hills Nature Preserve

So, this morning I thought it would be fun to take Tyler to The Nature Preserve at Arbor Hills. Well, we got out there and about 5 minutes later I was just way too hot. We snapped a few pics, looked at the waterfalls that were close, and checked out some insects that we saw crawling on the ground. Guess going outside (even at 10AM) is not a good idea in the summer time when you're 9 months preggo almost.
Oh well, it was nice to get out for a few minutes at least and Tyler loved it.
