This past weekend, Ashton started running a little fever. It wasn't too high and he wasn't acting like he felt too horrible. Saturday his fever seemed to go away and on Sunday it was just low grade, but he still acted okay. I went to my baby shower and when I returned, I decided to take him to Acute Kids. He looked horrible and I really didn't want to wait till Monday morning to have to take him to the Dr. Took him in, and of course they say he just has a virus and it needs to just run it's course. Grrrreat! I HATE viruses. There is nothing they can do for them. So, we go home and he just seems to get more miserable. Fever was back and he looked and sounded horrible. He went to bed okay. Woke up around 8:30ish and I let him lay in our bed. By 11:30 he was up again and was having a lot of trouble breathing and throwing up. I decided I needed to take him to the ER. We get there and they see him immediately! Thank goodness!! His fever was up to 104 and his breathing was really bad! They did all his vitals and he was not looking or sounding good. They did a chest x-ray. This was SOO hard. I could not be in the room with him since I'm pregnant. So, I am standing outside the door and he is screaming. I am trying my best to hold it together, but I couldn't. Thank goodness it was fast! After, I got him and as we're walking back to our room, he threw up all over himself and me. My poor baby!!! We clean him up and I clean up the best I can. Ashton started to calm down a little, but only wanted to lay in the bed right next to me (this is about the only good thing about having a sick little one....they LOVE to cuddle). The Dr comes in and says his chest is clear of pneumonia, but he does have Croup and an ear infection. Grrrrreat! So, they administer a breathing treatment (2 by the time we leave) and a steroid shot. He really gets irritable for a few hours. They said this is normal and is due to the steroid. About 2 hours or so later he finally is getting sleepy. The Dr came back and checked him and said he was sounding and seemed to be better. She said we could go home. We check out and arrive home around 3AM. I'm exhausted, but so is Ashton. We slept together and actually got some decent sleep. We take him back to his regular pediatrician the following day just to be sure his oxygen levels were better....and they were. They said it may take 2-3 days for him to be better.

****UPDATE****
It's now Thursday and he is doing MUCH better. He is still a little hoarse at times and his eating is not totally back yet. He is though drinking GREAT! I am so thankful he is better and SOOOO thankful I went with my Mommy instinct and took him to the ER. I always worry if I over exaggerate (sometimes yes, I do)...but thankful I took him!
